Illinois is in a void where some voters think it’s time for a third party while others wished there were two. In August 1776 George Washington addressed his Continental Army stating “The time is now near at hand which must probably determine whether Americans are to be freemen or slaves; whether they are to have any property they can call their own; whether their houses and farms are to be pillaged and destroyed, and themselves consigned to a state of wretchedness from which no human efforts will deliver them.” Russian writer Ayn Rand warned that we’re entering a period where government can do whatever it wants while people can only act by permission.
I’ve wondered when Rauner was going to sellout. What does Rauner know about the Founders and Framers anyway? I was shocked when I listened to Rauner speak in Yorkville on March 6. Alexander Hamilton understood the dangers of big government and wrote in Federalist No. 26 “The people should resolve to recall all the powers they have heretofore parted with out of their own hands, and to divide themselves into as many States as there are counties, in order that they may be able to manage their own concerns in person.” I believe Springfield has lost credibility and Rauner has vowed to restore power back into the hands of local voters where it belongs.
In Virginia’s Statute for Religious Freedom, Thomas Jefferson wrote “…to compel a man to furnish contributions of money for the propagation of opinions which he disbelieves and abhors, is sinful and tyrannical…” Rauner believes in the right to organize under the I Amendment but recognizes that it’s also wrong to compel people to join a labor organization and pay dues against their will.
Rauner’s the first to admit that many of the things that are legal for Ill government are illegal citizens. After the arrest of the Gov. Rod Blagojevich, FBI special agent Robert Grant stated “If it is not the most corrupt state in the United States, it’s certainly one hell of a competitor,” Fed up with Illinois corruption I believe Illinois politicians should serve two terms, one in office the other in jail. Rauner’s the first Illinois official to publically acknowledge corruption in Ill government. The result is that tax payers aren’t getting value for their tax dollars. Rauner stated that bids need to be open and fair and not tied to special interests. A lot of politicians make good on promises they’ve made to special interests at the expense of taxpayers under the guise of law. Rauner’s the first I’ve heard who wants to return the power to tax and sovereignty into the hands of the people. Rauner said the state needs to honor the pensions it contracted but acknowledged the impropriety of some pensions such as Pat Quinn’s $11,396 monthly pension which in my opinion isn’t constitutional but legalized larceny. Taxpayers may finally be getting the voice at the table they deserve to chart their own course & destiny.
